Volunteering and personal development

Rounded corner
Volunteering is a great way to gain experience and confidence - and it will look really good on your CV too!

Whether it’s helping tidy someone’s garden, looking after animals, designing leaflets or performing – there’s something for everyone when it comes to giving your time.  You don’t have to do it on your own … get a group of friends together and do something fun!

Any sort of volunteering can help improve your confidence and your skills and some volunteer programmes even give you a certificate at the end.  You won’t get paid but sometimes you might get travel expenses.  Employers really like job applicants who’ve done some volunteering.

There are also lots of volunteering opportunities overseas if you fancy a change of scene or want to volunteer as part of your gap year.
