What is a diploma?
A Diploma offers a mix of classroom learning,
creative thinking and hands-on experience in a work-relevant
subject.
Diplomas - some facts:

They may or may not be available in your school -
check locally.

In 2009, you may
be able to choose one
of
nine Diploma
subjects.

Available at three levels: Foundation (Level
1), Higher (Level 2) and Advanced (Level 3)

You will probably study parts of the diploma
in another place nearby (school, college or work
place)

Diplomas give practical, work-related learning
and will help you gain skills in a real work place along with an
understanding and knowledge of your chosen subject.
Diplomas involve going to college and working
with employers and local businesses.
All Diplomas will help you improve your skills in
English, maths and ICT.
During the next few years, more and more
of these new qualifications will be on
offer.
You will
study your Diploma alongside the
core GCSEs. Also, you
can include some additional
GCSEs to reflect your interests.
