Using the web
You can use the internet to…
- Look for a job or course
- Find out more about qualifications
- Research company information
- Access telephone directories
- Join a discussion group or chat room
- Do on-line training
- Look up useful agencies and organisations
- Find out about personality tests / psychometric tests
- Get help on writing your CV
- Get advice on health, travel, homelessness, drugs, money and much more
It can be difficult to find exactly what you are looking for on the Internet as there are millions of web pages.
Using a search engine will help you find pages containing words you type in the search box but if you type in a word like ‘careers’ or ‘jobs’ you'll get thousands of results! Try to be as specific as possible using as many keywords as you can in order to narrow your search. If you can’t find what you’re looking for at first try a different word that has a similar meaning. Typing ‘UK’ in the search box with your keywords will get you hits that are more relevant to you.
