Equal Opportunities
What is it?
Everyone has the basic human right not to be treated unfairly because of who or what they are e.g. race, colour, nationality, national origin, gender, marital status, religion, sexual orientation, disability or age. This is called discrimination which can take many forms whether written, verbal or physical.
Remember
- Boys and girls can do any job or course that they want
- Race, colour, religion should not limit your career choice or progression
- Your postcode or the area you’re in living in should not stop you from aiming high
- Employers and school environments should concentrate on your ability, not disability. Communication on both sides is really important, so say what you need.
- Being young doesn’t mean you can’t challenge or change other people’s attitudes
Connexions Nottinghamshire take Equal Opportunities issues in education, training and employment very seriously. Personal Advisers and support services in colleges are there to help you, so don’t be afraid to talk to them.
