Celebrating diversity in Nottingham

Dual Heritage Exhibition

As part of the Black History Month celebrations, Connexions Nottinghamshire  hosted a Dual Heritage Exhibition at Nottingham City library in October 2008.

The Jewel Heritage Project, looked at young people’s experiences of being young and dual heritage in Nottingham. Deana Goode, Dual Heritage specialist Personal Adviser, who works in the Connexions BME (Black Minority Ethnic) team coordinated the project. Deana worked with a group of dual heritage young people from Nottingham City on the project. The young people were involved in taking photos, organising the event and interviewing role models.

The exhibition looked at people’s experiences of being dual heritage in Nottingham, how they feel, how they fit into two, or more different cultures, and aimed to celebrate the positives of being Dual Heritage.

The exhibition showcased people’s experiences using photography, video, art and words.
