EMA
Education Maintenance Allowance
If you are aged 16-19 and stay on at school or go to college full-time you may receive an EMA, depending on your family’s income.  From April 2006 EMA may also be available to you if you are on Entry to Employment (E2E) or a Programme Led Apprenticeship (PLA) funded by the LSC.
  • This is a weekly payment of £10, £20 or £30.
  • You have to attend regularly to continue receiving the money.
  • You could get bonus payments of £100 if you do well on your course.  For a 2 year course these could add up to £500 depending on your progress.
  • The money will be paid straight in to your bank account.
  • Ask your Personal Adviser or school for an application form.
