None of us like the thought of having to revise for exams. But a little planning can make things go a lot smoother!
>> Plan your revision to suit you – some people work best when it’s quiet, others prefer background music. Work little and often taking regular breaks and leave time for sleep and relaxing.
>> Take the stress out of revision by starting early and making a revision timetable. Make sure all your coursework is finished in good time or you could lose marks.
>> Talk to your parents or carers, friends and teachers if you need help and support at any time.
Your revision plan
-
First things first - write a timetable!
-
Work a little and often
-
Find the best place to revise
-
Break each subject into small bits
-
Make notes
-
Use highlighter pens
-
Practice on past exam papers
Stressbusters
You can relax by …
-
listening to music
-
shopping
-
playing football or another sport
-
watching TV
-
having a bath
-
going dancing
-
using lavender essential oil
-
doing yoga or meditation
But don’t forget to do some work!
Believe it or not - alcohol, drugs and cigarettes won’t help! Eating healthy food and exercising will (honestly!).
Top tips for exams:
-
Have a calendar with all your exams written in - and look at it!!
-
Think ahead - if you think you might get stuck in traffic then leave the house earlier.
-
Do you know what room your exam is in?
-
Have a checklist for things like pens, rulers and calculators - then you won't be having to think about it just before you go in.
