Going for an interview
So you’ve applied for a job and have been offered an interview. Here are a few tips to help you on your way.

Remember to:
  • Re-read the job description
  • Check where and when the interview is
  • Plan your journey
  • Look clean and smart
  • Introduce yourself to the receptionist
  • Smile, be polite and act enthusiastic
  • Take your exam certificates and ‘Record of Achievement’
  • Take a pen and a notebook

Don't:
  • Arrive late
  • Chew gum or smoke
  • Argue, slouch or fidget
  • Make too many jokes

Interviews can take many forms. You might be interviewed by one person or a panel.  You may also be asked to do a test.  A good example of this is a word-processing test if you are applying for an administration job.

Don’t forget that an interview gives you a chance to see whether you would like to work for the people interviewing you! Prepare a few questions you would like to ask.
