Catering and hospitality - Nottinghamshire info

The hotels and catering industry is one of the biggest employment sectors in Nottinghamshire and it employs around 28,000 people*. Bars and restaurants make up 82% of jobs* and around two thirds of workers in this industry are female. There are many young people under the age of 25 working in this area—a lot of them are students.

Just over half of people working in the hospitality industry are chefs, cooks or catering assistants and there continues to be a strong demand for this type of work. There is also a high turnover of managers which means that there are good opportunities for young people to progress to management level.
